Scottish Amateur Match Report
Millbeg
5 v 5 EKYM, Saturday 7th November 2009
YM
travelled to Easterhouse on Saturday for a league fixture against local
side Millbeg. YM started the game well are were 3 up after 20 minutes.
Taylor and Tycynski were causing all sorts of problems for the Millbeg
defence who could not cope with their pace. Taylor's first goal came
when he was put through one on one by a good pass from Tycynski and he
fired home from 12 yards. The second goal was another fine move
finished well by Tycysnki. Y.M's third was a well worked goal by Dawson
which and Tycynski which was finished by McCarthy.
Millbeg never gave up and were urged forward by their lively and
excitable support. They eventually pulled back a goal after some slack
marking by YM allowed the Millbeg forward to score.
After
half time YM scored a fourth through Taylor who used his pace to evade
two tackles and slip the ball past the keeper. Within 5 minutes the
score was 4-2 after a simple ball over the top was latched onto by the
Millbeg forward who finished well.
The
match was flowing back and forward but it was YM who increased their
lead after a long ball from G.Robertson snr gave Dawson the ball 12
yards out. Dawson poked the ball beyond the keeper and slammed it home
into an empty net to make the score 5-2.
Once
again the long ball caught out YM when Millbeg made the score 5-3. With
10 minutes remaining YM were slow to react to a fine save from
G.Robertson jnr and it was the Millbeg striker who steered the rebound
home.
Then
came the turning point in the match when Tycynski tried to get the ball
from below a Millbeg player he was the subject of a two footed tackle
which struck him on the chest. The same excitable local supporters
invaded the park and several punches were thrown at the East Kilbride
player. McCaig intervened and was also the subject of a similar
attack. After some time order was restored and the referee opted to
send off Y.M's McCaig and the Millbeg substitute with no other action
taken.
YM then defended their lead with 5 minutes to go but the extra player
showed when Millbeg equalised with seconds to spare.
