Scottish Amateur Match Report
Hamilton F.P 3 v EKYM 2, Saturday
10th October 2009
Meanwhile the Scottish Amateur side travelled the short distance to take
on Hamilton F.Ps on league business. Despite having the majority of
play YM were hit by a sucker punch when some slack defending gave the
ball away twice 30 yards from goal and the resultant shot dipped under
the bar to make the score one nil. To make matters worse Hamilton
doubled their lead when poor defending allowed the F.P striker in on
goal and his well placed shot gave the keeper no chance.
Just before half time Y.M pulled a goal back after Billy Robertson won
the ball in midfield and played in Ian Taylor. Taylor beat his man on
the right flank and crossed for Dawson to head well into the opposite
corner of the goal.
After half time the flow of the game continued to be towards the
Hamilton goal and it was Taylor who levelled the score. A good ball out
of defence from Martin Ross released Taylor who used his pace the evade
the defender before rounding the keeper and placing the ball into an
empty net.
Unfortunately for Y.M the score only stayed level for 5 minutes when a
corner from the right was headed into the net after Y.M's marking was
posted missing. Hamilton almost doubled their advantage when their
striker was felled in the box but Graeme Robertson jnr in goals made an
excellent save to keep his side in the game.
Despite throwing everything forward Y.M failed to get that elusive goal
which would have gained them a draw.
This Saturday Y.M are at home to Cambria at Kirktonholme with a 2pm kick
off.
