East Kilbride Y.M's Scottish Amateur
team played host to their rivals Hamilton F.P at Kirtonholme on Saturday.
Straight from the kick off Y.M dominated and Taylor came close with a shot
which was well saved and Billy Robertson's header just looped over the bar
with the goalkeeper beaten.
It took 36 minutes for Y.M to make
the breakthrough when Dawson played a one two with Billy Robertson on the
edge of the box. Dawson was then tackled and the ball broke to Taylor
who had an instinctive shot which scrambled over the line.
The game took a turn 5 minutes later
when McAneny was adjudged to have elbowed the Hamilton Player as he rose to
win a header and was given his second yellow card and Y.M were down to 10
men. Almost immediately the Hamilton no.8 had a good run from his own half
beating a static Y.M defence before giving the keeper no chance with a
clinical finish.
After half time it was Y.M who
looked like they had the extra man as man of the match Butchard terrorised
the Hamilton defence whilst Dawson and Miller were winning the midfield
battle.
In the 65th minute YM got their just
reward when Butchard turned the defender inside out and as he sped in on
goal he was hauled to the ground for a blatant penalty. Dawson and Butchard
hotly discussed who would take the penalty but it was Butchard who won the
day and sent the keeper the wrong way to the joy of his children watching
behind the goal.
Y.M's third and the final goal of
the game came with 5 minutes to go when Dawson released Taylor in on the
goalkeeper. His shot rebounded to Dawson who stroked the ball into the
empty net.
This Saturday Y.M's Scottish Amateur
team take on Lochgilphead in the Cup at Kirktonholme with a 2pm kick off.
