Scottish Amateur Match Report 15/08/2009

YM's Scottish Amateur team had a busy week with two hard games against Centre 1sts who are 2 divisions above them and Duncanrig B who play in the league above YM.

Despite the league differences YM went into the game with plenty of confidence after several succesfull pre season games under their belt. Straight from kick off YM forced the pace with the midfield trio of Dawson, McCaig and Smith pressing the Centre midfield into mistakes which initially went unpunished. Despite YM playing a good passing game it was ironic when their first goal came from a route one move. Graeme Robertson in the YM goal kicked a long ball which was latched onto by Taylor who used his pace to evade a last ditch tackle before shooting home from 12 yards.

Straight from the restart Centre's Petit's shot looped over the YM's keeper to equalise the game at 1-1. In the second half the match followed the same pattern with YM pressing the game and coming close on several occassions before getting their just rewards with 10 minutes to go. Smith latched on to a though ball before blasting a low shot past the outrushing keeper to win the game for YM 2-1.

EKYM 6 Duncanrig B 3, Saturday 15th August 2009

YM's next game was against Duncanrig B and had plenty of goals for he spectators in attendance. With some good football YM went 4 nil up with goals from Taylor, McCaig and Foley(2). Some poor defending led to Duncanrig pulling 3 back late into the game before YM stretched their lead to 6-3 with goals from Taylor and Dawson.
